When we lived in Carmel, California, there was a horse ranch down the road from us, and every spring we would watch for the mares in foal and try to guess what kind of foals they would have. It was exciting for my children when the foals were born. I have put this pregnant mare in a snow scene to accent the birth of spring with the melting snow.
