This painting began as a study of the subtle variations of lavender. I became intrigued with the shapes of buds and blossoms as the painting developed. The vase needed to be thin, light and transparent to balance the muted colors of the flowers. Strong textures and comtemporary colors allowed me to make a personal statement with a traditional still life. It is my hope that the image draws the viewer's attention to its tranquility and beauty.
