The wolf was exterminated from the western United States between 1790 and 1930. We have not had a wolf pack established in the western United States until 1985 when a pack of 12 wolves came across the Canadian border into Glacier National Park. In 1986, they made a den and had five pups. This painting is one of a group of works I am doing to depict the wolf in his western habitat.
